Coronavirus Update 31-Jul-2020
The Government has imposed a "Lockdown" on Calderdale, Bradford and Kirklees where 99% of our Members are based.
- We could continue classes under the guidelines as long as members don't "socialise or interact with people not in their household or social bubble".
- We have taken every precaution to provide safe classes.
- Many Members are isolating until this weekend, which now has been extended indefinitely so cannot attend
- We have to take into account the latest data, see below.
The Trustees held an emergency meeting on the evening of July 31st and have taken the following decisions to ensure your safety.
-
Considering the increased risk in Calderdale and the medical history of our Members, we believe it will be safer to suspend classes until the situation improves. So sorry but there will be no Exercise or Tai Chi classes until further notice.
- Walks are still planned to commence on 8 August, strictly in line with the Government guidelines and our published Walk Guidance document (click here to view).
- We will keep the decision on class suspension under review and will contact you with any changes
- What we will start next week, are 40 minute classes with Angela on Zoom. We will send out details of how to join a Zoom class nearer the time.
You can use Zoom on your smart TV linked to your mobile or laptop, laptop, iPad or on a computer. You will need to download Zoom at https://zoom.us/.
The latest data for Calderdale is:
- 20 to 26 July
- 30 cases / 100,000
- 63 actual cases
- +14 compared to previous week, the previous week was +5
The overall numbers for Yorkshire are below. Remember in early June Calderdale was 196th out of 203
Note. The Government has revised the figures they publish. They now include Pillar 2 as well as Pillar 1 figures.
- Pillar 1 tests rely solely on tests at Public Health England (PHE) laboratories and NHS hospital settings to collect their data.
- Pillar 2 is a collaborative effort from commercial partners in England and are for tests for people in the wider population. These include drive thru tests and postal tests
Please stay safe, avoid contact, wear your face masks when visiting indoor premises.
