Coronavirus Update 31-Oct-2020
  1. CLASS CLOSURE
    • The Trustees met on 30 October to discuss the implications of Tier 3 Restrictions in West Yorkshire from 2nd November. They decided that the Government and Calderdale Council advice is our classes must close.
    • We are sorry to announce that all classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will cease from 2 November for at least 28 days.
    • In place of the classes the Trainers will run Zoom Classes on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for HEARTBEAT Members.
    • Members can join any / as many Zoom classes as you wish.
    • To help people who work during the day, but available to every Member, we are running an evening Exercise Class on Tuesdays.
  2. ZOOM CLASSES
    • There will be Zoom Tai Chi Classes by Yvonne on Tuesdays at 10:00am
    • There will be Zoom Exercise Classes by Angela on Tuesday at 6:30pm and at 10:am on Wednesdays and Thursdays
    • Members should pay HEARTBEAT for their classes at the usual rate. You can pay per class or pay for a block of classes for the first 4 weeks of Tier 3.

  3. WALKS
    • Under the Tier 3 Restrictions, walks of 6 people from more than one family can continue. If the Government guidance changes then we will advise you what effect it may have on our Walks.

  4. AMAZON SMILE
    • If you use Amazon to order on line goods, then at no cost to you or to HEARTBEAT, you can make a donation to our funds every time you shop.
    • If you have an Amazon Prime account the change to Smile does not affect your Prime membership.
    • Sign in to your Amazon account
      1. In the search bar type in Amazon Smile, enter
      2. Then follow the instructions and when asked which charity to support, search Heartbeat the Brighouse Heart Support Group. There are many HEARTBEAT charities so make sure you click our name.
    • That is it, always sign in to your Amazon Smile account (you can set this up as your default account when you are setting up the Smile account).
    • We will then receive half a percent of all your Amazon spends every 3 months

  5. SCAMS
    • Click here to view the latest Trading Standards scam alerts. This Monthly alert outlines trending fraud patterns during the current COVID-19 pandemic and what we can do to stay protected. There have been further reports of scams, doorstep Crime and business complaints all relating to the COVID-19 pandemic here in West Yorkshire. This news alert will give you an indication of the current situation here in West Yorkshire.
  6. TIER 3 RESTRICTIONS
    • In addition to the Tier 2 Restrictions that already apply to West Yorkshire the Calderdale Council advises the following apply:
      • People must not meet with anybody outside their household or support bubble in any indoor or outdoor setting, whether at home, in a private garden, or in most public spaces.
      • Pubs and bars must close, and can only remain open where they operate as if they were a restaurant – which means serving substantial meals, like a main lunchtime or evening meal. They may only serve alcohol as part of such a meal. (The BSC Members Bar is closed from Monday 2 November)
      • Weddings and funerals can go ahead with restrictions on the number of attendees. 15 guests are allowed at weddings and 30 at funeral services. 15 attendees are allowed at wakes and related ceremonies. Wedding receptions are not permitted.
      • People should try to avoid travelling outside the ‘Very High’ area they are in, or entering a ‘Very High’ area, other than for things like work, education, accessing youth services, to meet caring responsibilities or if they are in transit.
      • People should avoid staying overnight in another part of the UK if they are resident in a ‘Very High’ area, or avoid staying overnight in a ‘Very High’ area if they are resident elsewhere.
      • Schools, universities will remain open although a move to greater online provision is encouraged.
      • People should work from home wherever possible
      • Places of worship are open (subject to gathering limits)
      • Gyms will remain open although indoor exercise classes should not take place
      • Hairdressers and beauty salons can remain open
      • Libraries and museums can remain open
      • Retail can remain open
      • Casinos, soft play areas, adult gaming centres, betting shops and car boot sales will be closed
      • Shisha bars (serving shisa) – these venues may operate but only operating as a cafe and not allowed to serve shisha.
